A 'Cool' Prediction

      Sometime in the next two to five years (from Jan/08)....
           .... most likely sooner if the Democrats win the White House in the 2008 election....
           ... and just before the 2012 cycle if it is a Republican that is elected....
           ...... Mr Gore and the Global Warming True Believers will announce that:

      "The Changes Made, even though the US, India, and China Did Not Ratify and Are Not Observing the Kyoto Protocol, the changes made to combat MAN MADE global warming by individuals, municipalities, states, corporations, and even at the Federal Level have altered the rate at which the globe is warming and now it appears that the Earth's Climate has either stabilized or has even actually cooled slightly."

      Yes.

      This is a serious prediction, for the record, posterity, and you may quote the Desk on this one.

      Since the temperature change is a natural cycle, which may have actually peaked in the Northern Hemisphere while the Southern Hemisphere is apparently beginning a 'Little Ice Age', the overall average temperature of the Earth (which 'by the way' does not exist) will seem to fall.
      Then the faithful followers of Mr. Gore will suddenly notice things like the Pacific Oscillation Cycle, the Water Cycle, and realize that Sea Level has never been constant throughout the history of the planet.

      And then the media, various social engineers, and the UN will invent another crisis.
      Perhaps they will notice that when Compact Fluorescent Bulbs finally burn out and must be disposed of they are actually Toxic Waste as they contain mercury and other heavy metals as well as hazardous material in their insulation. Then they can campaign against them.

      But that would be another prediction, and we are limited to one per article.

[NOTE: The Desk says that- Yes, the climate is warming. It has been since the end of the last Ice Age. How much of an effect on it does the activities of mankind have?
