Is there any other statement required about what Major League Baseball thinks about its fans than Tuesday Night's decision to call the game after everybody kissed their own sister and called it a conference?
They spent the pre-game show trotting out current and future Hall of Famers. They Honored Ted Williams. They posed and waved and did the family thing with kids and blown kisses and memorials to others that have passed on.
Then they brought out some chick who sang the National Anthem with so much personal expression you got the impression she really didn't know the words.
Then they played the game.
And ended it in a tie that made the Desk wonder if it had been scripted ahead of time. Yeah... that's right... FIXED as in the Black Sox Scandal
Neither side had somebody that could throw another inning, not even a backup outfielder? Both Teams wanted to call it off and go back to their hotels for a nightcap?
Oh please.
After sitting in front of the tube half the night listening to the commentators wax poetic about how great it all was... THEN to be told 'have a nice evening'.
The fans in the stands that were booing and burning their souvenir programs had the right idea.
Hey! MLB! Yeah you! Mr. Selig and company....
And you player's reps too...
