Deep Breath Now

       We've all vented.

The guns are all polished and oiled. You can't walk from here to the mailbox without seeing a dozen American flags.
Prayers have been, and continue to be, said.
There's boxes here and there to collect supplies. Envelopes are passed for money. Plans are rewrote to accommodate more security.

President Bush has asked... no... he Implored Americans to get back to work.
       And we have.

Actual Work is Actually being done. And recreation is happening, maybe in small doses, but it is. (The Desk talked to some people that went to a movie last night.)

       We need to focus.

No, the Muslims that live next door are most likely NOT the enemy.
No, the guy at the liquor store from 'Over There' someplace isn't a terrorist.
No, we are not going to deport everybody whose Grandmother didn't come over on the Mayflower.
       We need to tighten up.
Yes, we will have to get used to certain things being different.
Yes, our economy has taken a hit, but it will recover.
We need to get a grip.
No, we will not tolerate terrorism of the kind we have witnessed.
No, we will not tolerate a loss of our freedom due to these arsewholes.
(arsewhole is a technical term for an unclean area of the body)
No, we will not tolerate rampant political spastic reactions to seize firearms, fingerprint the entire population of the country, or require travel permits and ID cards to go from Baltimore to Atlantic City.

This IS America. We ARE Americans.
We have a name and a face of the Enemy. And AS Americans. We had better be willing to hunt this extremist down... him and his assistants and cronies... and do what needs to be done.
Then, we need to get back in step and get back to being the Greatest Country God has Ever Raised on Earth.

While it is true. The Dream... The American Dream. The Dream of Gene Roddenberry. Personal Dreams. All of them. Have taken a direct hit.

But they were not killed. They were slowed down, but not stopped.
We will work toward that bright future, that better tomorrow.

Unfortunately. Some of our people won't be here to see it.
And we need to ensure that those responsible for it aren't here for it either.

It is not about revenge or retaliation. It is simply the Right Thing to Do.

That more than anything else defines America.

We will pursue this 'war' because it is the Right Thing to Do. And we will still be Americans because....

It Is The Right Thing To Do.
